How do I set up a divorced family?

In circumstances where there are divorced parents with multiple households, the software allows you to easily add additional households while linking the student to both parents. Each parent will have their own log in to verify and edit their data. The parent can view the second household but cannot edit. 

Adding a Second Household to an Existing Family

  1. Go to People > Families. 
  2. Search for an existing family, click Edit to update the family information. 
  3. Under the Household(s) tab, click on Add New Home.  
  4. Update the fields to complete the household information.
  5. Click Save & Close. 
  6. The second household will now show in the Family Relationship in a different color. 

Add a New Parent to the Second Household

  1. Navigate to the Parent(s) tab.
  2. Click Add New to add a new parent.
  3. Select which household the parent should be linked to (NOTE: Parents can only be linked to one household). 
  4. Update the fields to complete the parent information.
  5. Click Save & Close.

Move an existing Parent to the Second Household

  1. Navigate to the Parent(s) tab.
  2. Click Edit on the parent that should be linked to the second household.
  3. A pop-up page will appear for that parent.
  4. Click on the Household drop-down and select the second household the parent should be linked to.
  5. Click Save.
  6. The Family Relationship will now show the other parent linked to the second household.

Add Students to multiple Households

  1. The student should be linked to both households if their parents are divorced. 
  2. Navigate to the Student(s) tab.
  3. Click Edit on each student.
  4. A pop-up page will appear for that student. 
  5. Check off all of the households the student should be linked to (Unlike parents, students can be linked to multiple households). 
  6. Click Save. 
  7. The Family Relationship will show the student is linked to both parents by their households.

Adding a New Family with Two Households

  1. Go to People > Families. 
  2. Click on Add New to create a new family. 
  3. Complete the Household information. 
  4. Click on Save & Add Another Household.
  5. Once you have added all of the households for that family, add students and parents, assigning them to appropriate household.
